XLAB - International Science Camp 2008
In the summer of 2008 XLAB organizes the
International Science Camps in the sixth year of uninterrupted
succession. In 2008 XLAB organizes two International Science Camps.
first Camp from June 16th to July 8th,
second Camp from July 28th to August 19th
They are geared to interested high school students, undergraduate
college and university students, aged about 17 to 20 years. Courses are
offered in biology, chemistry, physics and computer science and
supervised by scientists of the University of Göttingen and affiliated
research organizations.
The students work in small groups of two or three. All experiments are
hands-on experiments. Demonstrations are rarely used and limited only
to highly sophisticated experiments, to the use of NMR, X-Ray or other
large research instruments.
During the XLAB International Science Camps English is the language used among students, teachers and scientists.
At the weekends and in the evenings a cultural and social program is
arranged. Social contacts among students of different cultural
background are as important as experimental work and scientific
learning. All social activities are accompanied by experienced teachers.
The science camp last for 3 ½ weeks, including an excursion to Berlin during the last three days.
The costs for the camp 2008 are 1.750 € which is all-inclusive except
for the travel expenses to Göttingen and from Berlin. Financial support
is possible. Application for a scholarship should be submitted before
March 15th.
